Visionary Annual Conference 2023
The Visionary Conference is a key event in the sight loss calendar, aiming to provide continuous professional development through peer networking, expert speakers and informal learning opportunities for local sight loss organisations and professionals; all in a single event.
The program is designed to support the delivery of the Visionary Annual Conference, the sight loss sector’s flagship event, on 27 and 28 September 2023.
The Annual Conference provides an opportunity for sight loss professionals to join workshops, keynote speeches, sector-wide discussions and professional networking. All these are vital as organisations navigate the changing health and social care landscape, whilst shaping service delivery to meet evolving people needs. We select inspiring keynote speakers to challenge thinking, highlight successes and deliver content or share concepts to drive forward aspirations. This year we will have keynote speeches delivered by three powerful women, two of whom have lived experience of vision impairment:
- Miss Louisa Wickham, National Clinical Director for Eye Care in England;
- Sumaria Latif, Company Accessibility Leader, Procter & Gamble; and
- Marsha De Cordova MP and Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Eye Health and Visual Impairment.
The wider programme includes topics such as influencing policy collaboratively, improving eye health, links between visual impairment and other health conditions, technology and the importance of lived experience. The varied programme is made possible with support and sponsorship from all members of the VI Charity sector Partnership.
As with previous events, the full programme will offer a range of workshops on topics including, eye care pathways, rehabilitation, enhancing independence, accessibility and support for children, young people and their families. The needs and aspirations of blind and partially sighted people will be central to the planning and design of workshops. The event is open to professionals working with blind and partially sighted people. You can find out more on the Visionary website.
